Merit is committed to supporting the communities where we live and work. We believe our company and its employees have the power to make a difference by volunteering, giving, and supporting charitable organizations.
Whether we are encouraging employee donations through our Merit Matching Gift program, spreading holiday cheer under the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree, or raising awareness and funds for muscular sclerosis research by riding with the Merit MS150 Team, our people are making a positive impact. Here are some of the nonprofit efforts we support:
North Texas Food Bank Volunteering
The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is a nonprofit organization that distributes food through a network of 300 Member Agencies and 1,000 feeding and education programs in thirteen North Texas counties. Merit employees are active volunteers in the NTFB’s food banks and member agencies, helping to fight hunger in North Texas.
Merit Bike MS Team
Each year, Merit employees participate in Bike MS, a two-day fundraising bicycle ride organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society: Lone Star. One of the largest events of its kind in North America, the ride is a 150-mile journey from Dallas to Fort Worth. It is a long ride — but it is well worth the effort.
Family Place – Easter Baskets for Kids
The Family Place is the largest family violence service provider in the Dallas area, reaching out to thousands of victims of family violence each year with award-winning programs that keep women and children safe. Merit Energy supports The Family Place by providing Easter Baskets for Kids enrolled in the program.
Other Community Programs
Merit Matching Gift Program
Merit Energy encourages charitable employee giving. We will match any employee gift to a registered nonprofit organization, up to $1,000.
Education is important to Merit Energy and its employees. Each year, we sponsor a Fill-a-Backpack Drive to help underprivileged children purchase necessary supplies so they can go back to school with pride.
